When I got this email, I was really skeptical. I couldn’t believe that they would put this much value into a laptop for THAT price! I was wrong. This is a monster deal. I’m a grandma gamer that travels quite a bit (grandkids will do that to ya), but to be without a computer would be tantamount to being without my teeth! (Don’t say it!) At any rate, it plays Ages of Conan like smooth silk, so close to my desktop in speed and quality that I’m really amazed. LOTRO is gorgeous… EQ2 runs like a dream, and the super-fast wi-fi and Bluetooth capability means I can frag with impunity when the urge hits. I am EXTREMELY happy with this machine. My ONLY partial complaint is the lack of a PCMCIA port or Blu-Ray, but, for this price? Who the heck cares THAT much? DO buy a cooling tray! That 8800M runs hot and you will want to protect this sweet baby from a melt down…

I just got this laptop today , it runs cool and fast , just compared it with the HP Dv7 Nvidia 9600M , World of warcraft .. ofcourse this 8800M looked better and faster with the high resulotion screen
looks great ! but the only problem is .. u will feel a little slowiness compared to the Dv7 from HP which has 2.53 GHz Centrino2 , but its an amazing machine .. but i really wanted more specs on it .. cause HP’s dv7 1 ? i forgot made one with the same price of this one but some cool specs .. centrino2 2.53 ghz , 640 gb HDD and blu-ray
but still … not better than the high resulotion screen with 8800 GTS

Again, Tigerdirect.com came through with this order even if it seemed like there may of been a problem with the product being ‘partially back-ordered’. ROCK ON TigerDirect.com! Gateway should of built this laptop with a Blue-Ray disc onboard. There’s VERY little True high-definition located anywhere on the web. So you will be wondering just as I am, why did they NOT put a Blue-Ray disc in this laptop? I’m going to check with Gateway to see if they could put one in or maybe just get an external USB Blue-Ray player. Overall this laptop is very nice for the money ($1629.00)Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 MHz Processor, 8800M GT Video and two 200 GB hard drives which come to me shipped with RAID 0. Really fast Data access! Great game graphics. WOW! This laptop even came with a Gateway copy of back-up Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit Service Pack 1. I have been able to load all the programs I had on another Windows Vista computer. Runs very nicely. Good work Gateway!

I’ll agree with the hype TD is giving about this notebook. I owned the previous gen version that had an older processer and half the RAM and cost a few hundred less, but was identical in every other way. This laptop is a Behemoth in both size and features. It has every desktop functionality one could want. It *will* run Crysis and I expect all other AAA titles coming out this year. No idea why they didn’t throw a Blu-Ray drive on this one to make it the ultimate lappy. The best part for me was the fact that if you know how, the CPU and hard drives were upgradeable (could even be RAIDed!). Gateway support was also pretty decent. Of course the way technology goes, there will always be another laptop at the top of the hill next year. But for the price-performance point I don’t think you’ll find something better. P.S. Make sure the bottom vents are not blocked by any surface when gaming with this laptop–it *will* overheat. Invest in a laptop stand for it.
